Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping new trends in all areas of our society, including education. In fact, we are immersed in a digital transformation where AI is bringing disruptive elements in terms of educational innovation. Aspects such as facial recognition, biometric data, chatbots, metaverse, synthetic emotions, social robots, among others, are increasingly well-known terms, which are forming a semantic field linked to the projection that is being delimited on the education of the future. In this process, it will be essential to bring together factors of a diverse nature, and not only technological ones. Thus, the emotional aspects involved in any teaching-learning process must be taken into account in the new learning scenarios linked to AI. Likewise, AI should help to reorient teaching-learning processes based on the emotions that are being developed in an educational scenario, as addressed in the MEEBAI project (A Methodology for Emotion-Aware Education Based on Artificial Intelligence), a project approved in the call Prometeo 2022 of the Generalitat Valenciana. Thus, in this symposium we will present various contributions on the MEEBAI project and other studies in which we are working where emotions have a relevant role as they are configured as determining elements regarding the integration of AI in the teaching-learning process.
