Eduardo Fonseca-Pedrero
Professor of Psychology, Vice-Rector for Research and Internationalisation University of La Rioja

Educational settings have a mission to promote, protect and care for mental health during childhood and adolescence. However, early detection and psychological intervention of students with emotional problems in educational settings remains an unmet need. In this context, prevalence data on mental health derived from the PSICE (Psychology Based on Evidence in Educational Contexts) study are presented and a preventive intervention based on the transdiagnostic model is proposed. The promotion of psychological well-being in educational contexts is the best investment on the part of society and institutions.

Eduardo Fonseca Pedrero is Professor of Psychology at the University of La Rioja. He is currently Vice-Rector for Research and Internationalisation at the University of La Rioja. He is Principal Investigator of the PRISMA research team (Programa Riojano Investigación en Salud Mental) and member of the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Salud Mental (CIBERSAM), in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oviedo.

He has published more than 200 research papers in scientific journals of impact. He has published several books on psychological treatments and mental health, including the Psychological Treatment Manuals published by Pirámide. He has participated in many book chapters in national and foreign publishing houses, as well as in national and international congresses. He has also received several scientific awards and recognitions.

His lines of research focus on the promotion of emotional well-being and the study of mental health (e.g., suicidal behaviour, psychosis), the prevention of psychological problems, the incorporation of new psychopathological models and the validation of psychological treatments.
